At the end-of-year Faculty-Staff Appreciation Luncheon, one faculty member and one staff member are named Faculty Member of the Year and Staff Person of the Year. Current HSU employees nominate and vote for each recipient. Receiving a nomination is an honor in itself. A well-sought-after accolade, this marks one of our community’s most diligent, kind, and affable members here at HSU.

Dr. Jill Jumper was named the 2023-2024 Faculty Member of the Year. As the Program Director for the Department of Physical Therapy, her work takes her across campus to many facets of student life and enrichment. Her position isn’t just a title, though. She strives to use her abilities and outreach to touch lives more than simply teaching. To her, service to the students and faculty of HSU is reward enough.

“I am very thankful to all the faculty and staff in the Department of Physical Therapy. The work environment in our department is so family-friendly and joyful! Some of the best moments of my career have been serving with the HSU DPT team locally and internationally,” shared Dr. Jumper. “I also want to thank Dr. Lindsay Spindler and Chantelle Lancaster for their willingness to help start the program for people with Parkinson’s at the Fletcher Fitness Center.”

Her work on campus is far from over, and she continues to provide excellent service to the community and her students. “I am extremely surprised and humbled by the entire experience. There are so many other faculty members doing big things across campus, and I am incredibly honored to be chosen.”

With her humility in her work and focus on improving campus life, it’s obvious why she has been named the faculty member of the year.

Thank you, and congratulations, Dr. Jumper!
